Tower of Terror Costume Woes

Last night I spent 2 hours making the skirt portion of my costume for the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler.  Yup, that’s right, I spent 2 hours on something that should have taken 15 minutes.  And I don’t like the way it came out.  Wah wah waaaah.  I’m all thrown off on the costume for this run now.  You see I assumed it would be cooler since it’s a night run and had plotted out a costume with long sleeves (wicking running fabric, but still long sleeves).  Then in reading race recaps realized I needed to plan for 70s and humid.  So there went my initial plans for the top.  Then last night I literally spent an hour contemplating whether or not to put a contrasting waistband on the skirt.  Well, I need the contrast for this costume, but if I make it all the one color I may be able to use it for a future costume, but then this one won’t look as good, etc, etc, etc, you get the idea.  After all that I went with the contrasting waistband, but then second guessed how to cut the skirt fabric.  I don’t know why I thought that random people on the interwebs would know better than me given that it was in front of me and I’ve been sewing for years, but I should have cut the shape different given the frabic I used.  So the skirt is OK and will work but it’s definitely far from being the most flattering thing.  It is poofy and bell shaped, so it makes my ass and waist look ginormous (the drape is why I should have cut it different).  Hey, it will make me easy to spot on the run I guess.  I decided to move forward with making the top to see if that makes the skirt look better and to try to refrain from ripping it apart and starting again.
